Ways to Reduce Silent Inflammation

Silent inflammation slowly develops over a number of years or could be decades without you realizing it, and it can just erupt one day and become a chronic disease, possibly putting your general health in danger.  The effects can eventually interfere with your healthy tissues, increase the risk of heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and autoimmune disease, and it is also known as a silent killer.   In short, it can damage your heart and brain, throw your digestive system out of whack, make your joints stiff and achy, and even ruin the look of your skin.  Know what foods cause silent inflammation and what the symptoms are so you can prevent it.  You can prevent silent inflammation by adopting evidence-based lifestyle and dietary habits that lower immune stress and inflammatory markers.

Common Warning Signs of Harmful Silent Inflammation

  1. Elevated CRP levels indicate inflammation in your body. Because data link high CRP levels to increased heart risk, doctors routinely test for cardiac-specific C-reactive protein.
  2. When the brain is inflamed, memory formation and recall both suffer or are impaired.  Unfortunately, some people believe scattered thoughts and trouble focusing are part of aging.
  3. Symptoms include pain sensitivity in the body, along with common everyday aches and pains in joints and muscles.
  4. Redness, itchiness, flaky skin, and discomfort are associated with many common skin issues.
  5. When balanced gut microorganisms are disrupted by consuming large amounts of processed foods containing preservatives and other artificial additives. Digestive issues can often be traced to harmful inflammation within the digestive tract.

How To Prevent Silent Inflammation

Turmeric

In this article, I share what I do to prevent silent inflammation. When I cook home-cooked meals, I usually use Himalayan salt, black ground pepper, and fresh or powdered garlic and onion, as applicable. I use specific spices when applicable. I use Turmeric, cumin powder, or other natural spices I fancy using for recipes I make. I avoid man-made artificial food enhancers and food preservatives. I try to read labels on ready-to-eat foods to make sure what I buy isn’t mixed with these substances.

The American Journal of Cardiology study found that turmeric reduced the risk of a serious cardiac event (post-bypass surgery) by an amazing 56%.

Pomegranate

Pure natural pomegranate juice – A study reported that drinking as little as two ounces daily has shown to lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol, lower triglycerides levels as it cleanses plaque from arteries – all of that is good news for heart health.

I had experienced a bad inflammation which was a skin rash that was so itchy for weeks and also experiencing dizziness for a month.  I took a step and checked my blood pressure (BP) daily and found it was fluctuating between 116/78 – 140-83.  I started drinking a cup of pure pomegranate juice daily to help my inflammation, the first thing I noticed was, my dizziness went away.  Also, my BP  stabilized to 120-80, sometimes lower.  Pomegranate juice worked for me.  At that time it was unknown to me that it will also lower my BP but it did. I wanted my skin rash to go away.

Berries

Berries are small fruits packed with fiber, vitamin C, polyphenols,  and minerals.  They are also easy to eat and to add to your diet. No peeling needed.   The fruits contain antioxidants called anthocyanins which have anti-inflammatory effects that may reduce your risk of disease. Berries have polyphenols that also act as an anti-inflammatory effect in the body. Examples of these berries are blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries.   Eating berries daily will help our body produce a lot of Natural Killer cells (NK cells).  NK cells are best known for killing virally infected cells, detecting and controlling early signs of cancer, as well as protecting against the disease.

Avocado

Avocados are packed with potassium, magnesium, and may help increase your body’s glutathione levels. Glutathione is one of the body’s most important and potent antioxidants.  Avocados offer various beneficial compounds that protect against inflammation and may reduce the risk of cancer.   It is also high in fiber and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats. I have an easy way of eating avocado so I can enjoy the many benefits of it.  I make avocado toast almost daily because I love it so much.  I toast a slice of sourdough bread, smear a thin layer of spicy Kefir (Mediterranean cheese), put a couple of slices of Mexican white cheese, and then slices of avocado on top.  It is simple to make and goes so well together and is delicious!  Avocado toast and hot matcha green tea.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is, when you are feeling good, healthy, no pain, no underlying conditions bothering you, and you don’t feel stressed.  You feel the freedom!  The feeling of being happy and full of energy is a great feeling!
